From time to time, spaces become available on our excavation programmes at both Vindolanda and Magna due to cancellations or last-minute changes. This page is the best place to find and secure those opportunities.

Whether you're a returning excavator or hoping to join us for the first time, these places offer a chance to get involved - sometimes at short notice.

**Due to late availability excavation places, the Archaeology Team has decided to temporarily relax our booking restrictions for the remainder of the 2026 excavation season.

This means that anyone who has already attended an excavation or has an existing booking at either site during the 2026 season is now welcome to book onto any remaining late availability places.

It is important that excavation work continues to progress at pace so that we can successfully achieve our project's research and excavation objectives. Opening these places to returning excavators will help ensure that we make the most of the remaining opportunities this season.

Please note that this is a temporary measure for the 2026 excavation season only. Our usual booking arrangements will be reinstated for future seasons. Thank you for your support.**
